Qualifications
I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice since January 2000 having gained a Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling and Therapy, with Dissertation in April 2000 after 3+ years training. I becoming a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist in May 2002 and a Senior Accredited member of BACP in 2009.
Experience
From 1998 to date over 3,400 client contact hours including approx 1900 Telephone counselling hours.
My private work deals with a range of issues including; relationships (breakdown, separation, divorce); loss, grief, bereavement (whether related to partners, parents, other family members, friends); health issues such as stress and depression; life issues such as loss of meaning (mid-life crisis), loss of faith; work related (stress, redundancy, change of career); and anger, anxiety, fear, depression however they manifest.
The telephone counselling work included all of the above issues and also providing management support to client organisations.
Career History
I am 63 years of age, married with 3 grown-up children. Before becoming a psychotherapist I managed a successful career in commerce, mostly in the financial services sector. In 1995, when my then employers offered me redundancy I took the opportunity to change career direction from corporate project/programme management, into counselling and therapy.
Ethics & Supervision Arrangements
As a BACP Accredited Practitioner, my work is informed by the BACP ‘Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy’.
I have regular supervision with in accordance with the BACP Guidelines on Supervision.
Continuing Professional Development
As an accredited member of BACP I abide by their requirements for Continuing Professional Development.
